Monmouth/Ocean was a great game. Both teams played well. Ocean took advantage of some monmouth mis-cues, and that was the difference.3-2. It was well played by both teams and the refs did a nice job.

"Sorry so late. They had me on football."

Matt, don't you mean American Football?

That statement says it all - it's all about football.

Let's see them play some of their football playoffs during school hours, with only 2 officials.

70 million Brits can't be wrong. Last weekend's NFL game at Wembley in London was by all accounts the most boring sporting event the country has ever witnessed. They liked the Miami cheerleaders though!

I can't believe you almost wrote nothing about Shore boys beating Rumson. Especially after coming back from a 2-0 halftime score. This was a huge upset of one of the biggest rivalries in the area. Especially with Rumson being seeded so much higher than Shore?

Your not giving Shore any respect- You say they have to win a big game and they do and you say nothing about it in the paper. WoW!!! Whats up with that?

You would think the Asbury park Press would give Neptune alittle coverage on such a big win over Princeton. Princeton was 17-0 and are now 17-1 thanks to Neptune. Not only did they win but they shut them out.Neptune scored 3 goalsand those three goals that Princeton allowed were half the total it had given up in its first seventeen games. So Matt how about some coverage in our local newspaper???

alright this is getting riciculous, everyone needs to stop complaining about not seeing thier team in the paper. Its not possible to have an article on every gig game, especially during tournements. give the guy a break i think hes doing a great job with soccer. if it was football, then your team would have an article, but its not so deal with it.

Sorry I haven't been more present over the last couple days with coverege and responding to comments.

To those from Shore, Neptune, and Ocean who want more press for games that deserve it, I'm sorry. I lobby to cover a game pretty much everyday and I always lobby to do soccer, but unless it's a sectional or state championship game, Friday soccer is lucky to get as much as a lengthy roundup like this past Friday. If they don't need me to cover a football game, I go to a soccer game, but as was the case this weekend, they needed me for football. Same goes for Saturdays.

For those looking for more press in the paper, you'll have plenty of it Wednesday. We're going to have someone at every Shore Conference home game, and I'll be at North Bruns.-Howell.

Shore beating Rumson is not a major upset. To anyone that thinks it is, I wonder if you yourself were even at any of the games this year. Seeds don't mean much and when you consider that they played 3 matches, each decided by a goal, it's not surprise by any means. The way they did it is much more of a story.

And no where in the paper did I say Shore needed to win a big game. I said it on the blog, so I'll talk about it on the blog. But when everybody here wants to talk about Shore, there's not much more I can add that would sound nice. That's the beauty of the comment threads. You don't need me to talk about a topic to have a discussion about it.

Matt, I agree Shore and Rumson are evenly matched. So no suprise. Three great games. The last was sweet for Shore because of the way they came back from 2-0.

Look, whoever is saying Shore and Rumson dont deserve any respect, i think you should think about taht a little more. this blogging is not helping at all, you play soccer on the field, whatever you say here is not gonna change anything, its pointless, all it does is make people angry, and its not worth it. Shore and Rumson have very good players, and are very good teams, just because they play in a weak division doesnt make them bad teams, they are both incredible teams, i mean Shore is in the semi-finals, playing A.L Johnson.

Watch Game two Shore Rumson and let me know if Kid who knocked out MCkenzie should have still been playing in that game. Dirty as they come . No call. What goes around comes around. By the way 21, 19 and 5 should all have been carded for trying to take out Shore player # 12.

Your right, not a major upset, but it is a major rivalary! In every sport, these two teams play like they have never played before when they face eachother???????

Lets move on- What do people think of Tuesdays' matchups

November 4, 2007 at 6:42 PM

Matt,
"Shore has not played a great game yet this year. They split with Point Beach, got swept by Rumson, tied Ocean, got blasted by Freehold Twp., lost to Raritan, and failed their A North test against Colts Neck. Their wins have come from the Henry Hudson/Asbury/Mater Die trio (6 wins), one from Point Beach, two from St. Rose, and one against Carteret. Again, they can beat Rumson, but if they had to face Manasquan or a team that beat Manasquan, they'd be the underdog."

Shore had three starters out for Second Rumson Game, Colts Neck, Raritan Games. They did lose control in the Freehold Twp game but i would argue the point that you think Freehold is a better team. Played a solid game against Ocean (Won in unoffical PKS). The problem is that you dont give Shore any respect. You picked them 4th in B- Central and now they knock out Rumson in State Tournament and you act like its no big deal, When you said that Rumson could win this state section.

November 4, 2007 at 6:54 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

He does not give them respect because they do not deserve it. The best team they have beaten all year is an average rumson team who beat them two out of three times. What have they done besides that? The answer is nothing.

Matt, what do you think of the ocean/rbr game on tuesday. should be an interesting matchup and Ocean should have trouble with Stern in the middle of the field. My prediction 2-1 RBR

Look at that- not anonymous posting.. i am center mid number 5 on rumson. there is absolutely no point in posting these ridiculous blogs anymore. shore - good game - we gave little to no response after this game on the forum, so its dumb to call us dirty, or a bunch of pussies or faggots. it was a good three game series, good luck in states, well meet again next year.. this is to everyone - rumson and shore - let it be, grow up, stop posting and show some self constraint and class.

p.s. dont even respond to this -enjoy your win shore, accept your loss rumson and get over this immature anonymous posting.
