New Top 25
I figure I'll keep up with the top 25 every Tuesday. I'm not looking at the records at the moment, so they are based on what I remember them being. If there are any eggregious errors in the records, I reserve the right to intstantaneously change my mind. It is a blog after all.
1. Howell (11-2-1) - Win over Marlboro Wednesday clinches second straight A North title.
2. Manalapan (9-2-2) - Less than impressive against Midd. North, but still unbeaten in last nine.
3. TR East (9-3) - You could put these four A South teams in any order. East looks strongest to me.
4. Jackson Mem. (10-3-1) - Physical enough, experienced enough, but are they skilled enough?
5. CBA (8-4-1) - No bad losses, but no great wins since opening day drubbing of Manalapan.
6. Brick (8-4-2) - One more big week and Brick might be looking at a top four SCT seed.
7. TR South (8-5) - Skill has always been there, but starting to show their youth.
8. Freehold Twp. (7-5-1) - Pats are learning A North is a tough division to grown up in.
9. Rumson-FH (10-1-1) - With a healthy Sean Pahler, the Dawgs are dangerous.
10. Monmouth (8-2-2) - Seem to be sleepwalking a bit. This week's a good time to wake up.
11. Monsignor Donovan (11-2) - If they wrap up B South Wednesday, the Donnies could be in the Top 10.
12. Red Bank (8-2) - A Central champs can make a statement against Monmouth Thursday.
13. Midd. North (7-5-1)* - Not sure whether they'll finish game against Manalapan, but I'm leaving it as a tie until further notice.
14. TR North (7-6) - Injury-plagued season can still turn out postseason for M's.
15. SJ Vianney (7-3-2) - The Lancers aren't scoring as much as last year, but the wins are still coming.
16. Manasquan (7-3-1) - The Warriors have thrived in postseason play the last two years.
17. Neptune (6-4) - Four wins in a row have the Fliers flying.
18. Lakewood (7-3) - Quiet year, but the Piners have a chance to win B South for the second straight year.
19. Ocean (5-3-3) - Yikes! 0-3-3 after a 5-0 start.
20. Shore (9-4) - Need to get healthy to have a shot at an SCT upset or Central Group II run.
21. Central (7-3-1) - Clay Gashlin's return gives a stingy defense some punch up front.
22. Wall (5-5-2) - The Knights have rebuilt to respectability after a rocky 2006.
23. Raritan (4-4-2) - Could do some damage in Central II if they get in.
24. Point Boro (5-4-3) - Need a win over Central or Lakewood heading into the SCT time.
25. Point Beach (8-4) - Shore too much to handle in rematch.

pretty good top 25, but how in the world can you have tr north at #14??? just because they play in a tough division does not mean they should be ranked so high. also, a-central is very very weak. think your giving too much respect to sjv and manasquan. neptune should be ranked ahead of both of them (won last 5 over monmouth, ocean, wall,lb,matawan)
What about Br Mem??? Not even Top 25?? Forget their record like you said. They would have the upper hand against any of the teams in the "B" divisions. They have one bad loss to Lacey with wins over Brick and TRN. With all close losses including couple in OT to the upper echelon teams like TRE JACKSON TRS and Brick. Ill take then against anyone from 14-25. I believe they will get into the tourneys at .500.(TRS on Wed and Midd S on Fri)
What about holmdel there instead of raritan. They beat SJV, Raritan back to back then lost to RBR even though they outplayed them.
How about if you don't agree you go make your own top 25. This is his opinon not yours.
I realize that, but that is why this is called a FORUM and responses are allowed. Thank you.
When are seedings coming out for SCT? And when does the tournament start?
Manasquan Beat SJV Tuesday.
Yes, by all means, call something to the attention of the forum if you don't like it. You can put your own top 25 up if you want for all I care.
SCT seeds come out this coming Monday night.
I agree that Brick Mem. and Holmdel could be somewhere on this list, but like I said when I did the top 25 last week, I required a .500 record to get into the rankings. Realistically Brick Mem. would go between Neptune and Lakewood, while Holmdel could actually replace Raritan now that they are back to .500 and Raritan fell under .500.
Neptune is a hot team, but I'm sticking by Manasquan. I ranked them high at the beginning of the year, and they look to be rounding into form. The win over SJV Tuesday was big for them and that loss for the Lancers probably would justify bumping Neptune in front of them if this were a daily top 25. But it's not so we'll wait and see.
Hey Matt,
Not criticizing, but why do you think Rumson should be in front of Manasquan, RBR and even SJV. I know they beat RBR in the beginning of the year, but they play a very weak competition. SJV beat them. Raritan beat there best competition, which is shore. Just curious.
Rumson easily would of beaten SJV if Pahler hadn't suffered his injury that week. Even if Raritan beat Shore, Rumson beat both those teams, Shore twice. Rumson deserves to be where they are.
Yea no Pahler for the SJV game and that's not a bad one loss to have.
For the Last time Shore has 3 starters down. Two will be back Firday against Colts Neck.
What happened to Monmouth...why the drop to #10? They have the talent to compete with anyone in the shore. Convincing wins against Red Bank and at Marlboro ought to vault them to your 7 or even 6 position.
Holmdel just beat LB 4-0 and Squan beat Matawn. So much for a weak A-Central.
LB and Matawan are the two of the bottom three teams in b north. the upper half is much better, but i do agree with you. A central is not weak at all. RBR, Squan, SJV, HOlmdel are all good teams. Squan probably has the best chance in the SCT
hey ummm CBA DID NOT DRUB MANALAPAN
NICE TRY
