About Me
- Name: Matt Manley
- Location: Princeton, NJ, United States
I am a sportswriter for the Asbury Park Press. I cover whatever they'll let me, which is primarily high school boys soccer, girls swimming, and boys track. I played soccer and swam when I was much younger, although I never swam as a girl. I have never participated in track competitively, but I have ran before, and even jumped a few times. My base of knowledge in sports is in the big three: baseball, basketball, and football (in that order). In addition to my discussions about my high school beats, you'll hear plenty from me on those other topics.

I dont believe that Colin MacMahon should be on the list b/c he played about 2 or 3 games this season. To replace him, you should add either Ben Drake or Jeff Algor (both sophomores with 3 goals each)
Not a lot of depth in A-Central vs. A-North, maybe 1 or 2 deep at each position.
Heres my A central team
Goalie: Neuman
Def: Tumas, Cluver, Moller, Brandt
Mid: Stern, Pinnella, Boylan, Nizza
For: Child, Gilpin, Inguinez, Voutsinas
In my opinion the best defensive player in the divison has to be brandt. Very physical in the back for RBR. Stern was by far the best midfielder in the division. Very skilled player who did well in both the offensive and defensive third of the field. The best forward I saw was Gilpin. He has good speed and has the skills as well. However he is a hot head and at times a dirty player.
Biggest Surprise: Squan- I thought this team had the talent to do great things but they fell way short. What happened to the firepower of Groezinger and Pinnella?
Kind of unfortunate with the voting. There are really three forwards of any substance this year in A-Central: Voutsinas, Child, and Gilpin. Groezinger should have been there but had an off year. Maclonie? Soft player, marginal skill. Gilpin would be better if he focused on the game instead of complaining.
Mid-fielders - there is Stern and not much else. Piniella is o.k. at best.
Defenders - there are two: Brandt and Tumas. The others are not worthy of consideration.
GKs - toss-up between Nuemann and Marino from Holmdel. Nuemann probably has better reactions and raw athletisism, Marino is a better technical GK, and will be an All-Shore candidate as he gets older.
gilpin = bitch
All-Shore Breakdown?
How many players by position, as it seems like the depth is at Mid-Field, the Defense, with least amount of quality players at forward. Any ideas?
Stern was certainly a very big part of RBR's success thru toughness and intensity; but I would not call him skillfull. His lack of skill will put him on 3rd team all-shore at best.
You're an idiot to say Marty isn't skillful. Honestly I haven't watched RBR play once all season, but I've played with and against Marty on numerous occasions and it is only ignorant to say he isn't skillful. I won't speculate on where he should or will end up regarding All-Shore but he is a solid, hard-working, skillful player.
MacMahon was the list because Squan was losing without him on the field. When he came back, they started winning again. I'd say that warrants his naming belonging on the list.
