Saturday Scores

Class A Central
Manasquan 1, Red Bank 0 - (SQUAN) Maher G; (RBR) Loss snaps nine-game win streak.

Other
Marlboro 1, Brick Mem. 0 - (MARL) LaFemina GWG in 93rd.
Freehold 1, Freehold Twp. 0 - (FREEB) Acost GWG in 75th; (FT) 4th straight loss.
Point Beach 3, Long Branch 0 - (BEACH) McElwee, Walls, Brandon G each, Connor 2 A.
Wall 0, Midd. North 0 - Both teams clinch SCT berths.
Manalapan 6, St. Rose 1

Just a couple notes:
-Marlboro is on a tear. They are 6-3 since starting the year 2-6 with a tough A North schedule. Coach Dave Santos told me Friday that they were trying to pick up a game with somebody for Monday, so if they get one and win it, they are in the SCT. I feel for the higher seeded team that will be "favored" to beat them.

-I haven't said enough about these guys, but Red Bank's had a remarkable run so far. Nine straight wins, the first division title of any kind in school history, and they'll probably get a home game in the SCT. Manasquan might still be the best team in A Central, but the Bucs are the champs and they have a real shot to do some damage in Central Group III.

-Luckily for Freehold Twp., their game against Neptune Monday is postponed. If not, the Pats would be facing exclusion from the SCT with a loss, which would not be unlikely considering the Tune has won seven in a row. Just two weeks ago, this team was 7-3-1, ranked 5th in the Shore and talking about SCT bye, home games, and even championships. Now they are lucky to even be there. My, how things can change.

How did RBR clinch the A Centreal when RBR and Squan have bassically the same record i believ 9-3. I think Squan is 9-3-1. I don't get it.

Goes by the record in the division. RBR is 8-2 in the division and Manasquan ended up 5-3-2 in the division. SJV ended up in second place and Manasquan in third.
